Add to that a helmet with barely enough room to see out of it and you can see that our knight is already a bit handicapped before he gets onto the battlefield. No matter, he's there to lead from the front, as long as there are plenty of troops to untangle him when he falls on his sword, or is it a baton? We're not sure.
